Extremely warm weather calls for an extra cold treat. We did a few quick pictures of my son at his first trip to Ice Deli last year. So, we had to do the same for my daughter this year. They both love it so much!
Some throwbacks to my son's first Ice Deli. We wised up and got Miss E a clear concoction. Amateur parenting mistakes abound.
Technically we are well into spring at this point, but you'd never know it. Hopefully I will be able to spend many more hours outside very soon. In the meantime here are some of the sessions I have been working on lately.
We have officially signed my son up to play hockey this spring. He had his first opportunity to skate last weekend and I think he was a little overwhelmed. He went home and took a 3 hour nap! It's exciting to sign him up for his first team sport and have something to do on the weekends for once. I promise not to bore everyone with hockey pictures every week, but here are some shots from his first time on the ice.
I die over these teeny skates.
You all knew that was coming, right? This week we had a visit from Santa. It's so crazy to think that last year on Christmas Day I was wondering if E was going to join us, but instead we spent one last holiday as a family of three. And this year we have two big kids WALKING around. One. Year. Later. It's true that time flies. I am still trying to wrap my head around all the moments that have passed and so thankful that I have this project to hold me accountable for those little moments that I would otherwise soon forget.
It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. - Dr. Seuss
It has taken my husband and I several months to leave the house overnight with two kids. I recently had to go out of town for work. So, we decided to make the most of it and do something fun in Chicago while we were there. I miss my kids something fierce when I am not with them. So, this trip with them kept my homesickness at bay. Our first stay at a hotel went relatively well. We did the typical things like look for airplanes and jump on the bed. After my duties were complete we headed over to Shedd Aquarium to see the "fishies." A loved it. E wasn't really into it. Anyways, here's a summary in pictures.
Major props to the man walking down the road that offered to take this picture for us. My big camera usually intimidates people.
It's kind of perfect that G fell on this week. My mom turns 50 this week and I think she deserves a blog post for it! My kids don't love anyone quite like they love their grandma. She is a best friend to them (and me). She is always there for us no matter the hour (including going into labor at 1:00 am). We took grandma to the Festival of Trees this past weekend. Although our visit with Santa didn't go quite as I expected, we still had fun looking at the lights and decorations. We also got our fix of gingerbread cookies. Happy Birthday, Meemas! We love you!
Another busy fall season comes to a close. I certainly want to thank every person out there that thought enough of my work to book a session with me. My season ended with a family, a senior, and a maternity session. I love how diverse this job can be. It truly is a dream come true to continue to capture these images that will live for a lifetime in my client's homes. I wanted to do a quick blog to catch up on my last few sessions. I will continue with my photography project, but I'm taking a little time off to enjoy my family and to hide from the winter weather and how unpredictable it is.
I was unsure what to do for "E" this week. Then this happened. For the record, this was completely unprovoked. I just love these kids and how much they love each other.
E is also for educate. A is really into books and I often catch him "reading" to himself. He's definitely taking after me in that sense. Now, if only I could find time to read these days.
It's a great month to give thanks to those that are so deserving. My husband is a great father to our children. He works hours that are not ideal, goes way too long without sleep, and still encourages me to have adult time with my girlfriends even when he's exhausted. Our family appreciates your hard work and dedication. Here's to A and E's dad.
